End Of Chapter 1 - The Rehersal
“So, are we working for Pacer now?” demanded Lang. Harrison replied, “Not in my bloody book.” Twirling her ponytail behind her, she said. “Look…what if that little hole in the ground was not some malfunctioning UFO explosion? What if it wasn’t an accident that the world's deadliest toxin was released?”
“What would be the point of that?” asked Murphy. The two watched as the pony tail was bundled and pierced with a long metal spike, expertly fashioning her hair into a low bun below her headphones. Without looking up, she said, “The VX contamination has limited our investigation for the last year.” She began to click away on her keyboard.
“Sod on,” said Louis. Lang turned and shot her gaze at them and said, “What if it was a rehearsal?”
“A rehearsal for what?” asked Murphy.
The three sat there, bumping along, lost in thought, until Lang turned to stare out the windscreen and murmured, “A much, much larger hole.”
